AROMATHERAPY AND ESSENTIAL OIL (ALMOND TREE AND ALMOND OIL)

Almond tree (Prunus amygdalus)
Almond, common name for a small tree of the rose family, and for the kernel of its fruit. It’s shed its leaves every autumn. It grows to about 10 meters and bears fruits which are called drupes only 3 years after being planted. It grows well in fertile well drained soil and has a very long lifespan.

Almond produces flowers that are similar to other trees of the same genus, trees like the plum tree (Prunus domestica), sweet or desert cherry (Prunus avium).

The United States is the major producer of almond in the world.
SWEET ALMOND OIL
Sweet almond oil is extracted by cold pressing from the dried drupe kernels of the almond tree. Almond oil is odorless, but depending processing it may have a slight odor but it does have a sweet nutty taste.

USES OF SWEET ALMOND OIL
Almond oil is commonly used carrier oil used in aromatherapy; it’s used in aromatherapy to smoothen, soften and sooth the skin. Sweet almond oil can be used by any body, with any skin type. Almond oil reduces skin irritation, inflammations and it’s rich in vitamins.
