AROMATHERAPY AND ESSENTIAL OIL (CINNAMON TREE/ CINNAMON OIL)



Cinnamon tree (Cinnamomum zeylancium)
Cinnamon tree is an evergreen tree of the lauraceae family of plants, it could grow up to 45 feet, and it produces white flowers, purple berries and has a brown bark.
The name cinnamon is from a Greek word “kinnamon” which means “tube” or “pipe”.

HISTORY OF THE CINNAMON TREE
Documented records of the cinnamon tree date back almost 5000 years ago, these records show that, cinnamon was as valuable as gold. Ancient Egyptians’ have records that date back to 2000 B.C showing cinnamon being used for mummification of their dead. Other ancient civilizations, used cinnamon as a gift to the deities they worshipped.

CINNAMON OIL
Cinnamon tree produces the famous cinnamon essential oil; this essential oil is extracted from the leaf and bark of the cinnamon tree. Both oils are extracted through steam distillation, both essential oils are similar, both being clear yellow liquids, which may turn red overtime. Though the cinnamon leaf and bark oil are similar, the bark oil is more effective than the leaf oil.
Cinnamon bark oil is used by many aroma therapists round the world.
USES OF CINNAMON LEAF AND BARK OIL
The cinnamon leaf and bark oil have basically the same function, but, as stated above the bark oil Is more effective that the leaf oil.
 USES OF CINNNAMON LEAF OIL
Cinnamon leaf oil is used, to reduce exhaustion and depression; it’s a remedy for colds, coughs and rheumatism.
USES OF CINNAMON BARK OIL
Cinnamon bark oil is used to cure many diseases. The diseases it cures are listed below.
·         Rheumatism
·         Diarrhea
·         Tooth aches
·         It’s cure for Nauseating

·         It improves the immune system
·         It reduces menstrual pains and aches
·         It cures colds and coughs
·         It cures asthma
·         It fights viral infections
