Reducing Stress with Aromatherapy

You only have to turn on the TV or open a newspaper to hear or read about recent events that have been happening in the world, some of which can cause stress to people receiving such information. The Credit Crunch that has gripped the globe in recent months, is one such example; it has affected a lot of people and caused them to suffer. Some people have lost jobs, some have lost their homes and this has caused detrimental effects on their state of wellbeing and health.

It's not only such widespread events that cause such stress, however. The media today is full of stories that can cause people to worry about what is happening closer to home; for example, reports of car accidents, traffic queues and worker's strikes are just a few things that are all too common and can lead to people worrying.

With the media only too happy to report on anything and everything that is happening, as well as everyday trials and tribulations, it is no wonder that people go home at night and look for different ways to relax. There are many different ways people choose to do this, but one of the most popular is to use essential oils and aromatherapy in the home to produce a calming effect or help with restless nights.

The use of essential oils in aromatherapy can be documented back many years; in about 1907 the concept was discovered and in 1937 the first book was produced on the subject. Essential oils were used in World Was II as antiseptics to treat injured soldiers, which helped to increase their exposure in the field of medicine.

Aromatherapy itself is used to treat a variety of disorders, not only stress. In some countries such as France, it is used in mainstream medicinal practice; as many essential oils contain antiseptic, antifungal, antiviral and antibacterial properties.

There are a variety of essential oils used in aromatherapy, some of which are said to have calming effects on the body. These include lavender, bergamot, basil and lemon oil. Other types of essential oils produce different effects; jasmine, sandalwood and ylang-ylang are often used as aphrodisiacs, geranium oil and tea tree oil are known to have antiseptic properties and frankincense and Eucalyptus oils have been known to help relieve cold and flu symptoms. This list is not conclusive and many oils produce more than one effect on the users. One example of this is lavender oil, which has many uses apart from stress relief. These include soothing cuts and bruises and helping those who suffer with insomnia to get a full night's rest.

Many shops sell aromatherapy and essential oils products, both on the high street and on the Internet. It is becoming increasingly popular as time goes by, especially as many online retailers offer incentives to encourage sales. To make sure you are buying good quality oils, we would always recommend you buy essential oils from a supplier who is an Aromatherapy Trade Council member.

Aromatherapy - One of the Many Uses of Essential Oils

However, those same employers'' organizations, when diluted in a carrier substance, such as grapeseed oil or milk, may even have therapeutic benefit without side effects. Other employers, according to the health status of a particular person, should be used sparingly or not.
Is the nose really knows?

Today, more and more people are concerned about the food they put into their bodies - growing their own food to know their origin and / or require organic fruits and vegetables and meats pasture-raised/free-ranged animal. This is a wonderful and healthy return to a lifestyle based on nature, however, I realized that many of these same people do not care much for what they use on the skin or scalp as it is about what they eat and drink. Our skin is the largest organ in the human body - very hard to ignore!

Walking through the soap or cleaning supply aisles of any grocery store is quickly surrounded by an "aromatherapy" products, driven by major brands. Toilet soap, bath soap, lotion, conditioning shampoo / soap, washing - cleaning products, even - that "aromatherapy" on their labels.

Essential oils versus synthetic fragrances.

Do not be fooled - there is a significant difference between the true aromatherapy, which is the use of essential oils and aromatics, which are designed to smell good, but most of which use synthetic fragrances. These companies appeal to consumers the nature of mind through our sense of smell, but more often they have nothing to do with aromatherapy truth!

What are essential oils and where they come from?

According to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Standardization of the vocabulary of natural materials (ISO/D1S9235.2), an essential oil is: "A product made by distillation with water or steam, or mechanical processing of citrus rinds or by dry distillation of natural materials. After distillation, the essential oil is physically separated from the water phase."

There are three methods that can produce the physical isolation of hydrocarbons from natural material: 1. Distillation (steam, water / steam and water), 2. Expression ("cold pressed"), a process used for citrus peel oils, and 3. Maceration / distillation, which is used for only a small number of essential oils including wintergreen and bitter almond.

What are essential oils that are used to?

Each essential oil (EO) has different chemical properties, and can be used for a variety of reasons, and in a variety of ways. Essential oils should be regarded as medicinal in nature - such as herbs should be. In fact, employers and herbs are the basis of many of the allopathic, or Western, today.

In short, this means that we learn much about these natural products and how they affect our bodies as we do about the food they eat.

Not guarantee the security natural! It is important to remember that "natural" does not guarantee "safe", so ignore the claims that the Evaluation Office can be used freely and without damage. Some oils can actually cause unwanted effects - burning, itching or rashes, for example - when applied directly on the skin or used in quantities that are above the recommended doses.

However, those same employers'' organizations, when diluted in a carrier substance, such as grapeseed oil or milk, may even have therapeutic benefit without side effects. Other employers, according to the health status of a particular person, should be used sparingly or not. And there is no evidence that people may have allergies to employers.

Ultimately, the safe and effective use of essential oils - "Aromatherapy" - is possible and can be very easy. With over 300 employer organizations known today can be difficult to know where to start if you want additional information.
